BIOGRAPHY
Aya Morita has been making cutouts based on the poses of paintings by masterpieces of Western art history since she was a student at Tokyo National University of the Arts. She draws drawings of her friends as models, enlarges with photocopy, and patiently cuts them out of a sheet of paper. Out of anatomical interest, the drawings depict muscles and internal organs. Through Morita's interpretation, her characters from masterpieces emerge as fascinating contemporary figures.
